Join us at Durham Miners Gala

Callout for local people to represent Crook at the Durham Miners Gala on Saturday 13th July.

Councillor Anne Reed and Councillor Mike Currah are working in partnership with Jack Drum Arts to take the beautiful Hole in the Wall Banner to the annual Big Meet in July of this year.

It will be the first time the Crook replica banner has been to the Gala in more than a decade, and the first time it will be accompanied by a special band of singers, brass musicians and drummers, singing local folk and mining songs.

If you live in or around Crook, this is a wonderful chance to participate in a significant local tradition, meet new people, and celebrate the town's heritage. Whether you're young or old, have a passion for the history of Crook, or simply want to be a part of something special, do consider joining.

We will provide free transport into Durham via a coach with pick-up from Crook Market Place at 8am, and returning to Crook at 3.30pm from Durham, providing a convenient way for you to attend the Gala.

To reserve a spot, email Councillors Mike Currah or Anne Reed via the email addresses below as soon as possible. Remember, the coach is free, and space is limited. It's a great way to ensure you don't miss out on this historic occasion.

Email Mike or Anne at the following email address to register your interest: Mike.Currah@durham.gov.uk / Anne.Reed@durham.gov.uk

Let's make this a day to remember, celebrating Crook's rich industrial heritage and enjoying the festivities of the Durham Miners Gala. If you're interested, don't hesitate to reach out to the contacts listed above to secure your place or if you have any queries do get in touch.
